Shelling on the world-renowned beaches of Sanibel Island is a favorite pastime for locals and vacationers alike. The Sanibel and Captiva beaches have been ranked over and over as the best in the U.S. and possibly the world! If shelling is not your forte, there are more than 27 miles of bike paths on Sanibel Island. Our bike paths can lead you to unique boutiques and restaurants along Periwinkle Way, or visitors can experience the island’s nature and simply take in the beautiful sites. Visitors can rent bikes from several local companies, either for the day or for the week, and enjoy biking down to the historic lighthouse, have a nice picnic on the beach, and then bike back to your Sanibel vacation rental.
