Museums
Sanibel Island is home to the world’s finest shell museum, the
Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum. Here you will learn about shells and
mollusks and the shell-maker, through exhibits and educational programs.
The island is also home to an historic Sanibel village and museum where
you can learn about life on Sanibel long before the causeway. Of
course, the education centers at both C.R.O.W. and the “Ding” Darling
National Wildlife Refuge offer fantastic information for both young and
old. World famous bird sculptor Jim Sprankle has many birds on display
that are unbelievable in detail.
